Our ECC programme is designed to have a holistic approach towards health through ‘Community Managed Acute Malnutrition’ and ‘first 1000 Days Approach’. The programme allows us to interact with the rural setup at multiple levels – Household, Community, Institutional, etc. The objective of the programme is to create healthy villages by addressing the issue of child malnutrition and morbidity through improved access and utilisation of basic maternal, new-born, child health and nutrition services. This is followed as a part of our life-cycle approach in which we involve the children, adolescent, pregnant women and lactating mothers. This is being achieved through effective functioning of ICDS centres and empowerment of communities. Once implemented, the existing system will be more responsive, and the local community increasingly proactive, to address the needs of a child during the first 1000 days of its life.
