The programme aims to strengthen and re-orient current practices at Aanganwadi Centers (AWC) for efficiency, effectiveness and efficacy. By introducing new methods of teaching and providing latest teaching aids and techniques, teachers are empowered to deliver a better classroom teaching experience. The quality of education depends on the interactions in the classroom.
Our efforts are aimed at empowering stakeholders to:
The core focus of the ECCE programme is to deliver quality education through scientific, play based learning and interactions in Anganwadi Centres. In pursuit of this objective, we follow a three-pronged approach:
Conducting workshops and training programs for different stakeholders ranging from the Child Development Project Officers (CDPO), ICDS Supervisors, Anganwadi Worker (AWW) and Anganwadi Helper (AWH) in different aspects of ECE. This covers pedagogy, preparing Teaching and Learning Materials (TLM), managing the class, theory on child development, contextual learning etc.
Providing TLM kits to each AWC. These kits cover all the learning areas for the child. The TLM kit is a combination designed to encourage participatory learning in the classroom. As the project progresses, training is provided to build the capacity of the AWW and the AWH in making their own TLM through provision of Do-It-Yourself (DIY) kits from locally available materials.
A line of independent supervisors qualified and trained in Early Childhood Education (ECE) regularly visit the AWC to provide handholding support to the AWW and AWH in implementing ECE in an efficient manner. These supervisors are also responsible for monitoring and collating data regarding the progress of each AWC in a time bound manner.
